Oriens Capital donates to Youthline

Earlier this year, Oriens Capital established a corporate giving scheme through the Acorn Foundation which sees it make two donations per year to charities in the local community.

The Oriens Capital team have chosen to make their second donation to Youthline. Known as “the number one place for young people to reach out for support”, Youthline is a long standing, New Zealand wide organisation that seeks to build communities where young people thrive. Youthline works with young people, their families and all those in the community supporting young people.

Youthline offers a free Helpline service (text, phone, webchat & email), free face-to-face counselling services, youth mentoring, programmes in schools and communities to help people grow and develop.

Oriens Capital’s donation will be used to support the work being done by Youthline for young people in the Western Bay of Plenty.

Oriens Capital Partner, Peter Tinholt said, “as a team we identified mental health as a key area we’d like to support locally – we know there is an urgent need for improved access to mental health services in the community with New Zealand having one of the highest youth suicide rates in the OECD. We like the work Youthline does and believe their services are making a positive difference to the lives of young people”.
